As per a report, a copy of which is lying with Early Times, a total of 636 new schools/infrastructure were approved by Government of India (GoI) for Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 to 2015 out of which the state could only complete 92 schools which constitute just 14.47% of the total schools approved, while work in 246 schools in progress and work on 248 schools couldn't even begin. As far as yearly progress is concerned, the report reads that 69 schools were approved in 2009-10, of which only 29 schools were completed (42.03%) and work on 30 schools is in progress with work on 41 schools yet to be started. In 2010-11, 182 schools were approved for construction out of which only 43 schools were completed (23.63%) with work on 88 schools is in progress and work on remaining 51 schools is yet to be started.
