MENDHAR, Jan 10: A BSF bunker on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sub-sector here was burnt in a diesel generator blast late last night. There was no casualty. The generator set caught fire at about 9.45 pm. However, before its flames could spread to the nearby BSF bunker, five BSF personnel, who were inside, managed to flee to safety along with weapons and most of the ammunition, according to official sources. After the flames engulfed the generator set, it exploded with a big bang. Soon after the blast, the bunker also caught fire and was burnt almost completely, the sources added. In the fire, six INSAS magazines along with 120 rounds, three wireless sets, a cash of Rs 5,000, beddings and some eatables were burnt, sources said. Senior BSF officers visited the site today for its examination. |
