Udhampur, Mar 9: Sant Mela Singh (SMS) College of Education celebrated International Women's Day an eassy writing competition on the topic "How far Woman is Safe in today's World?" and Rangoli competition was organized by the NSS unit of the college. Number of NSS volunteers participated and showed their creativity using natural and synthetic colours which depict happy, prosperous and colourful life of women. In eassy writing competition participants were required to write an easy comprising 500 words in English, Hindi or Punjabi language within the given time of 60 min. Chairman of the college Prof. Anmol Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the efforts of the students and said that these competitions not only encourage the students but also provide them the much needed platform to express their feelings, creativity and ideas. Principal of the college, Dr. Kiran Luthra in her address emphasized the role of women & their fundamental right of speech, freedom and decision making as an individual and responsible citizen. In essay writing competition, Pawandeep Kour stood first, Rekha Devi bagged second prize, Jasmeen Kour was declared 3rd. In rangoli competition, students were divided into 6 groups. Group 2 (Rekha and Simmy) was adjudged first, Group 6 ( Shikha, Jasmeen and Anuradha) as Second and Group 4( Sunit and Harpriya) and Group 1 (Ranjana and Jyoti) as third by the adjudicators. |
