BJP to condition party ministers, legislators for new role
High-level training programme from today
5/8/2015 12:12:24 AM
ET Report
Jammu, May 7: The Bhartiya Janta Party is going to impart tips of governance to the party legislators for conditioning them in new role as a ruling partner in Jammu and Kashmir, where the saffron outfit has come to power for the first time in history.
For the purpose, a high level two-day training programme is being organized for the BJP MLAs and MLCs, including the party ministers in Mufti-Sayeed led coalition Government on May 8 and 9 at holy town Katra.
During the scheduled training programme, BJP national general secretary Ram Lal and senior party leaders will teach the legislators how to pursue the party agenda and programmes while remaining in power, particularly in coalition with an ideological different outfit. All the 27 MLAs (including independent Pawan Gupta as well as
nominated Priya Sethi) and eight MLCs of the party have been directed to take part in the training programme, which would have different sessions for two days.
Pertinent to mention that the BJP has been facing it difficult to cope with its new role as a ruling coalition partner in Jammu and Kashmir where the party had remained in opposition ever since its creation. To adjust with PDP, the BJP has not only given up its most favourite agenda of abrogation of Article 370 but also maintained a virtual silence over other issues like permanent settlement of PoK refugees, citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees, delimitation commission etc.
According to the sources, the senior party leaders will take classes of the BJP legislators and ministers for imparting them training to effectively pursue their party agenda without creating trouble for the Government or embarrassing the coalition partner. Tips for maintaining a balance between the party agenda and Common Minimum
Programme of the coalition Government will be imported to the legislators, particularly the ministers, who are under severe criticism from within the BJP for their alleged hostile functioning, sources added.
