Locals protest against non-start of "GDC UKhraal' | | | Early Times Report
Banihal, Aug 8: Hundreds of people today staged a protest demonstration at newly created tehsil head quarter Ukhral in district Ramban regarding the non implementation and starting of classes in Govt Degree Collage (GDC) which were announced by the previous government before the assembly elections. Sources said that locals of Ukherhal today make a complete bandh and took to streets demanding start of classes of previously sanctioned Govt Degree Collage in their area.Led by Panthers party leader and unsuccessfully contested candidate from Banihal assembly segment Saiva singh Bali, the protesters amid slogans against the government alleged government is not implementing the order and sanctioning of degree collage in the area. Later more citizens, shopkeepers and transporters of the area also joined and sport the protest and vehicular movement in the area also remained affected till late afternoon till 4.00 pm. Thereafter protesters marched from Ukherhal to Ramsoo and submitted a memorandum before the Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Ramsoo to proper consideration. Earlier protestors threatened if the sanctioned Govt Degree Collage fails to function soon they will be forced to come on roads again and even block the national highway. SDM Ramsoo assured the protesters that their demands were redressed and the charter of demand will be sent to higher authorities soon. |
