| JU's error puts career of 168 UG students into jeopardy | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 16: Around 168 students pursuing B.A.Part III in Distance Education Department with Geography, Psychology, Music and Statistics missed practicals due to absence of contractual teachers in DDE during the current session. The students were to appear in internal practicals scheduled to be held at 2 P.M. w.e.f. 4-11-2015 for fifteen days in the Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu. However, wrong timing which clashed with the timings of CWG students has put their career into jeopardy. The sources told that the predicament of the students became more formidable when they faced trauma for missing practicals during recent pooja holidays in the College. The students wishing not to be named lamented that they had come from far flung areas to appear in the practicals in Jammu, but they were disgruntled to find no arrangement of practicals for 10th to 13th of Nov in the College with no teacher from the DDE side to take care of their untold harassment for which they are paid. The sources further informed that during last two sessions of B.A. Part I and II , the students did not face such an acute problem for internal practicals which used to be held in the DDE itself with the assistance of Contractual faculty and got every type of support within the DDE complex adding that due to lack of cohesiveness coupled with mounted personal grudges within the precincts of Jammu University and non engagement of supporting contractual faculty for Undergraduate course in current session in the DDE by the Jammu University, the students are facing dilemma with their academic interests jeopardized for their no fault whatsoever owning to its neglectfully anti-students approach alleging that the interests of the Jammu University are much more above the interests of the students. The sources told that these practicals of 168 students are of two hours with each batch of fifteen students and practicality of the schedule framed by the concerned Course Coordinator has not been taken into mind to ensure its compatibility and smooth sailing of practicals of the students further adding that the students are the first causality of non-application of mind of the University Authority and subsequent happy-go-lucky style of functioning of faculty there. |
