Early Times Report Doda, Jan 21: NABARD today organized a one day workshop at Doda involving all the bankers, Business Correspondants, NGOs and the beneficiaries who have set up Micro Enterprises under the programme. ADDC Doda Engineer Narinder Singh, was the Chief Guest and Vice President, Zonal Office, J&K Bank Doda Manzoor Attar was the guest of honour on the occasion. Others distinguished guests were LDM SBI Doda, DDM NABARD Doda and the branch managers of all the branches of SBI, PNB, J&K BANK, EDB, JCCB, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. Welcoming the guests DDM NABARD Doda, Rajesh Badyal presented briefly the Livelihood Promotion Programme of NABARD for eradication of poverty through formation and the credit linkage of the Joint Liability groups of the poor. He explained that the objectives of the programme ere to augment flow of credit to landless farmers, especially small, marginal, tenant farmers, share croppers, oral lessees, other farmers with small holdings without proper land records as well as other poor individuals taking up farm activities,off farm activities and non farm activities, JLG to serve as collateral substitute for loans, To minimize the risks in the loan portfolio for the banks through group approach, To provide food security to vulnerable section through enhanced agriculture production, productivity and livelihood promotion through joint farming and cluster approach. Vice President, Zonal Office,J&K Bank Doda Manzoor Attar presented an overview of the programme being implemented through banks. He lauded the efforts of the NGOs in forming the groups of the poor people and the banks for extending timely and hassle free credit to the beneficiaries. He informed the gathering that about 536 beneficiaries have so far setup income generating units in Farm, Non Farm and Off sectors in Doda district by availing credit to the tune of Rs.2.69 crore from the banks as on 31.Dec.2015 with J&K Bank leading by contributing Rs.1.99 cr. Followed by EDB Rs. 58.30 lakh and PNB with Rs.11.15 lakh and the process is still going on .This has not only improved their income levels but have also decelerated the process of migration in Chenab Valley. |
