Anti-national Er Rashid wants to resign! | | | ET Report jammu, Jan 28: The independent MLA Er Rashid, who keeps on hogging the headlines for wrong reasons, has hinted at possibility of him saying goodbye to the mainstream politics. He said he has written a letter to Governor seeking action against the police and security agencies for restricting his movement over the past year. "I was not allowed to travel to Chenab Valley as many times as I tried. Many times I was hit and injured. On the Republic Day I was invited but kept under house arrest. What kind of legislator am I who is not allowed to move and talk? If Governor doesn't take action I will be left with no other option other than to resign," Rashid said. The MLA Langate, who recently threatened to handover a BJP activist to militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), is known for raking controversies and behaving like a separatist. Er Rashid on many occasions has threatened to tender his resignation from the Legislative Assembly but his threats have remained confined to papers only. "Elements like Er Rashid need to be dealt with sternly as they are more dangerous than separatists. Er Rashid despite being a legislator leaves no stone unturned to indulge in anti-India activities. If he is so unhappy with India one needs to ask him why not he surrenders his salary which he takes every month in Indian currency," said an analyst. "Er Rashid should mend his ways if he wants to stay in Jammu and Kashmir. It's surprising that despite this legislator taking law into his hands on numerous occasions he continues to roam scot free and no action has been taken against him till date," he added. A politician said, "No one including the Governor takes Er Rashid seriously as we are all fed up of his political stunts. Its better for him to tender his resignation and join the separatist camp." The politician said, "He (Er Rashid) just a few months back tried to blow the beef issue out of proportion and even hosted a beef party at MLA hostel in Srinagar. His actions polarized Jammu and Kashmir regions and brought people of both the regions at loggerheads with each other." The politician mocked at Er Rashid for being placed under house arrest on the occasion of Republic Day. "Police did a right thing by not allowing him to participate in the Republic Day celebrations as there was every possibility of him enacting a drama there and vitiating the atmosphere," he added. Interestingly, Er Rashid has also written a letter to Speaker asking him to treat it as a privilege motion against SSP Baramulla and SSP Anantnag for "ill-treating him." "Someone needs to tell the legislator that he is not above the law and if he takes law into his hands, police officers will definitely act against him and you cannot expect them to act as mute spectators. He knows his rights as a legislator but it seems someone needs to remind him that along with rights as an elected MLA he is duty bound to safeguard sovereignty and integrity of India," said an analyst. |
