CRPF concerned over Kashmiri youth joining militancy

Srinagar, Mar 19: Expressing concern over the Kashmiri youth joining militant groups, Director General of CRPF, K Durga Prasad Saturday said there should be efforts to prevent them from "treading a wrong path".
"The local youth joining militancy in Kashmir is a serious concern and that there have to be plans to bring them back," Prassad told reporters on sidelines of a function at RTC Humhama. .
"We are aware of it. It is a concern and it should not happen. There should be efforts to bring them back and to prevent them from treading a wrong path," he said.
He said CRPF was fully capable to deal with any situation that has arisen due to increase in militancy.
Meanwhile, a CRPF spokesperson in a statement to PTK said as many as 514 newly recruited constables of 96th & 97th Batch of RTC Srinagar took final oath in a fascinating colourful oath taking ceremony held at recruit training centre, CRPF Humhama, Srinagar.
The Parade was presided over by K. Durga Prasad, DG-CRPF.
Mahesh Kumar, DIGP/Principal RTC, addressed the newly passed out constables and said- "The aim of this institution is to carve a disciplined CRPF soldier out of a common man. In this institution, Young individuals are trained in Battle Craft, Field Craft, Weapon Tactics, drill etc. in consonance with On-Ground requirements while maintaining Peace in the Nation."
He highlighted the diversified role of RTC and explained the endeavours of RTC, Srinagar in shaping the all-round personality of trainee for grooming them as excellent soldiers of future by imparting qualitative Training. Since its inception, the Training Centre has successfully trained 22,179 Constables in the Force. Further he wished them best of luck for joining this Force. Soon after newly recruited constables will be joining various CRPF Battalions in different parts of the country.
In another address by Chief Guest K. Durga Prasad, IPS he congratulated the newly passed out constables and extended his best wishes to the Officers and trainers of RTC for their excellent efforts in organizing such magnificent Parade. He urged the newly passed out constables to dedicate themselves to the cause of the nation and abide by the oath just taken.
