M S NAZKI Early Times Report Poonch, July 31: As some influential land grabbers, including retired revenue officials and political activists, have allegedly encroached upon the Mendhar bus stand land, its size is reduced from over 10 kanals to mere six kanals. Though the alleged encroachments took place under the nose of the district administration, it failed to either stop the unlawful activity or take action against the accused, official sources said. As per revene records, the bus stand had a total of 10 kanals and 10 marla of land under khasra No 555. A nursery was also to be developed on the 3 kanals of land adjoining it. "A total of 7.10 kanals of land, including the nursery land, stands encroached," sources alleged. Sources alleged that the encroachments had been made by the people in connivance with some revenue officials. People emphasised the need for transferring local revenue officials to outside districts. Ex-sarparch of Gohlad, Devinder Tandon urged the revenue authorities to identify the bus stand land and book the culprits who had grabbed the land. |
