Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Aug 1: Despite several measures taken by the CEO, Rajouri to improve the academic standard in government schools and to ensure the presence of teaching staff, still many teachers have managed their postings in the schools near their habitations despite the fact that their services were not required in such schools.
"Many among them have managed their postings near their habitations in nexus with the officials at the helm of affairs at Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) or Chief Education Officer (CEO) offices despite the fact that the schools having very thin enrollment" said an education department official.
In one such glaring example four trained post graduate/graduate teachers have managed their postings at a Government Primary School at Chhatta in Sunderbani education zone and surprisingly the school has only 7 students three in 5th class, two in second class and two in first primary class.
"No student has been enrolled in 3rd and 4th classes in the current session and when the 5th class will be out only 4 students will remain in the school," said a senior officer of education department.
This all happened under the nose and in nexus with Zonal Education officer (ZEO), said a source and added that Principal, District Institute of Education & Training who recently paid surprise visit to the school have sought an explanation from the ZEO before any further action.
Sources added that most of the time only four students remain present in this school and all the four post graduate/ graduate teachers have managed their salaries just for 'no work'.
It was also came to light that since May 5 no attendance of the students was marked in the school register and despite the fact that the ration was available in the school but no Mid Day Meal was served to the students after May 22.
Four post graduate/ graduate teachers for only 7 students that too at a primary school, is clear indication that lapses have been committed either at concerned ZEO office or by the officials at CEO office.
"On the report of principal, DIET re-verification was conducted by the Principal of Higher Secondary school, Bajabain, who is also cluster head. He has confirmed the appointment of 4 teachers for 10 students at this school. Three students were recently admitted," said CEO Ch Altaf Hussain.
He added that the school can't be emerged with middle/high school as the nearest school is about 3 kilometers from Chhata.
"Two teachers will be appointed at this school with an instruction to increase the enrollment and two teachers will be sent to other schools as per their subject wise requirement," said CEO.
As far as departmental action in this matter, CEO said it will be taken within next few days.
