SOS International takes out protest rally | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: SOS International - An Organisation for PoK Displaced Persons today organised a rally at Camp Gole Gujral in Jammu under its series of refugees awareness campaign began one and half year ago. S. O. S. International Chairman, Rajiv Chuni while speaking during the rally said that the Gole Gujral Camp was established in 1947 when PoK Refugees were forced to leave their native places due to Tribal invasion in several parts of PoK (Pakistan occupied Kashmir). "The camp is still placed here which lacks basic amenities and PoK Refugees are constraint to live in this shabby and dilapidated camp. The deplorable condition of the Camp presents the ugly face of Government who is keeping blind eye and deaf ear towards the pitiable state of them. History is witness that whenever any community or group of people got displaced in any part of the World except India had not taken the time for 70 years to rehabilitate them but the weird and inhuman case has happened to 1947 PoK Refugees who have been fallen prey of various successive Governments who are still waiting to get rehabilitated even after the lapse of 7 decades", he alleged. While addressing the rally, S. O. S. International Chairman, Rajiv Chuni said that it is very heart-rending that till today there is no helping hand which could lessen the plight of PoK Refugees. "We started the struggle to get much awaited justice under the ambit of constitution as constitution guarantees equality but in our case, it is only confined in the book because whatever written in constitution has not witnessed on ground. The said clause of constitution is not implemented in case of 1947 PoK Refugees resulting in elevation of already bearing troubles as they are confined to do below par jobs like drivers, cleaners, hawkers, labourers, domestic servants etc. State and Central Governments are responsible behind the plight of PoK Refugees as it has confined us to do the work of cleaners and drivers", he stated. "I asked some drivers and cleaners of my community who were thrashed, beaten up and their trucks were wrecked in Valley some days ago, why do you go to Valley with supplies? They replied that they don't have "Chandies" (monthly cash assistance) like Valley migrants. |
