People yearn for Azadi from miscreants out on streets | Kashmir turns Syria | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: As the Kashmir unrest has entered into third month, people fear that present situation can taken an ugly turn in coming days as the radicalized elements are making all the possible efforts to ensure that normalcy is not restored in Kashmir. Sources told Early Times that veiled youth have been moving in the city and are threatening the shopkeepers of dire consequences if they dare to open their shops. "This time around there is no Eid festivity in Kashmir. Efforts of people to restore normalcy have not yielded any results, as miscreants are ruling the streets of Kashmir. Lawlessness prevailing in Kashmir has turned the Valley into a jungle where rogues and ruffians are calling the shots," sources added. They said, "This time around separatists and other handlers have roped in criminals, history-sheeters and other rogue elements, who are being paid cash on daily basis to foment trouble." A Kashmir watcher said, "It looks like that Kashmir is heading towards a civil-war as groups of people are being pitted against each other. Kashmir situation is slowly turning into a class war. People from low income groups and jobless youth are out on streets to ruin everything. They want to teach Kohjas (affluent class) a lesson by not even allowing them to come out of their homes. During the past two months these miscreants have broken front and rear windows of hundreds of private vehicles and have even tried burning a few. On the name of so-called Azadi they have unleashed terror to ensure that life remains crippled forever." He said, "Police and security agencies have rounded up many youth during the past few weeks but the ring masters are luring young boys on one or other pretext to come out on streets and attack the commoners." An analyst said, "The seeds for the prevailing situation in Kashmir were sown when National Conference and Congress were in power. During that period security agencies on many occasions warned the state government about Kashmiri youth getting radicalized and deadly terror outfit ISIS making inroads into Kashmir but at that point of time the then government ruled out the possibility of ISIS venturing into Kashmir. The then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah went on record to say that young boys hoist ISIS flags for fun." He said, "Had the government acted against the rogue elements at that point of time situation in Kashmir today would not have taken such an ugly turn. It's unfortunate that Kashmir has been turned into Syria and innocent people have been caught between the devil and the deep sea. The people who could afford have moved out of Kashmir, while others who are stuck there have kept their fingers crossed." |
