Narco peddler held with 10 kgs Cannabis, demonetized notes upto 10 Lakhs 12/5/2016 10:55:41 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 5: In continuation to special drive against drugs under operation "Sanjeevani" launched by Sunil Gupta, (IPS), SSP Jammua Police made a major success with the arrest of a narco smuggler besides recovering contraband (Charas) weighing 10 Kg along with demonetized currency worth Rs 10 Lakh from his possession. Meanwhile a drug peddler was also arrested by Arnia police during a naka checking. "Acting on specific information, a naka was laid at Kunjwani chowk near Peerbaba (religious place), Police spokesperson said. He said, "One truck was singled to stop but the driver of the vehicle tried to break the naka, the police gave the speeding truck a hot chase and made it to stop." "During search of the cabin of the truck 10 Kgs Charas (cannabis) packed in a black bag and demonetized currency worth Rs 10 Lakhs in Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations was recovered, police said, adding, "the accused was arrested on the spot.' Accordingly a case under FIR No. 137/2016 under NDPS Act stand registered at Police Station Gangyal. "During questioning the said person (identity withheld) admitted that he has brought the consignment from Anantnag and was to be delivered at Jammu, police said, and further added that more arrests are likely as the arrested persons revealed during preliminary investigation that he had earlier also brought narcotic consignment to Jammu. The catch was made by Inspr AejazWani SHO P/S Gangyal under the supervision of SDPO City South Sachin Gupta and SP City South Shazad Salaria. Yet in another incident Arnia Police on specific information laid a special naka at Salehar and arrested one person and recovered 20 Bottles Corex, 540 intoxicant Capsule and 165 Tablets recovered from his possession.
