Mufti played game of buying and selling MLAs: Farooq | | | PS Bali
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 8: Accusing former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of playing game of buying and selling MLAs, president of National Conference Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said the late CM always believed in trading MLAs for power. "Even in 2002 elections when National Conference had 28 seats and PDP managed only 16, Mufti had tried to buy our MLAs," Farooq said while talking to media on the sidelines of a function here. He said CM Mehbooba Mufti has accused NC of trading MLAs. "I want to ask her let she prove that National Conference and Farooq Abdullah had ever bought or sold MLAs," he said, adding, "We do not believe in Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram." When asked about his recent statement regarding his party's support to separatists, Farooq said that people should not misinterpret his statement. "My support to separatists or any other person is only to bring permanent settlement to the Kashmir issue. I cannot see Kashmiri dying here as well we there (PoK)," he said, adding, "I do not understand why people are reacting so much and calling separatists and National Conference anti-national." "The government ruling Jammu and Kashmir, i.e, PDP-BJP is comfortable in talks with separatists and they have put it in their Agenda of Alliance, which shows that they are not anti-national," said Abdullah, adding that National Conference had termed separatists as non-representatives of the people in Kashmir because 'they have never fought elections'. "The National Conference has extended its support to the separatists and urged to get united for the permanent settlement of the state, as we do not want to see people dying," he said and added that he will never apologies for supporting separatists. When asked about statement of Chief Minister regarding role of National Conference in fuelling unrest in Kashmir, Dr Abdullah said that he is not afraid of Mehbooba Mufti. "Farooq Abdullah did never pelt stones, neither any NC worker did throw stones. So how is National Conference responsible for unrest?" he said and added that Mehbooba Mufti must not forget that without pelting stones National Conference workers and ministers have sacrificed their lives all these years. |
