| Senior engineer 'blackmails' colleagues! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: It may sound strange but is true that a senior Engineer in State Government is allegedly blackmailing his colleagues and other officers in the department wherein he is serving.
Sources said this senior Engineer used to pose as an RTI activist or a journalist and used to contact his preys telephonically. "He used to ask them to grease his palms or he would expose their wrong doings," sources added.
"Since this engineer is himself was serving in the department on a top position, he was aware about the weaknesses about his colleagues and subordinates,' sources claimed.
While elaborating, sources said that this senior Engineer has the blessings of a senior BJP minister.
According to the sources, this engineer got exposed recently when an officer traced his mobile phone number and threatened to approach Police. "The accused engineer had telephonically contacted the said officer in the guise of being a journalist and then threatened to carry a story based on the information provided under RTI. Since this officer was well known for his honesty, he did not succumb to the blackmailing tactics and even threatened to approach Police.
Sensing trouble, the engineer preferred to reveal his identity and sought to explain that he was just trying to find out how honest the officer was? However, when this officer shared this incident with his colleagues, it was revealed that similar calls were received by them and some of them had even paid money to the unidentified caller for avoiding any controversy." |
