Nowshera, Kalakote residents resent appointment of rotational ADCs
3/10/2018 10:18:27 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 10: Residents of Nowshera, Kalakot and Sunderbani in Rajouri district have rejected the government's decision to appoint Additional DCs (ADCs) on rotational basis for Kotranka-Kalakot and Nowshera-Sunderbani
They termed it as big joke with the people of these areas and a hurdle in declaring a separate district for Kalkot-Sunderbani and Nowshera by attaching Kalakot with Kotranka.
On the other hand residents of Kotranka today organised a complete bandh and said they will not allow the ADC to move to Kalakot on rotational basis.
Expressing their resentment against government's decision and in favour of their demand of separate district, residents of Nowshera sub division today continued their 23 days old indefinite strike and chain hunger strike.
In a meeting with the Chief Minister on Friday, she after one hour long deliberations, had assured us to re-consider the rotational DC issues with the BJP Ministers and concerned Legislatures within two days and to meet the Joint Action Committee (JIC) after that, said Subhash Kapoor, president JIC.
"But before we could reach at Nowshera, the government came out with decision to appoint ADC for Nowshera-Sunderbani. The decision was shocking and we have decided to continue our struggle peacefully till next meeting with CM as was assured by her" said JAC member.
To express their resentment many political leaders associated with BJP and PDP have resigned from their posts.
These includes Babu Gumabl, district president Mhila Morcha (BJP); Choottu Ram, vice-president Kissan Morcha (BJP); Sukhdev Choudhry, ex-sarpanch and zonal president (PDP), Arshad Mehmood (defeated PDP candidate) etc.
Meanwhile , Ashwani Sharma and Yog Raj, members JAC, Sunderbani termed the decision of rotational ADCs as cruel joke with the people of Nowsheera , Sunderbani and Kalakot and said they will not allow to divide the area on religious lines.
"Our fight is for district status for Sunderbani, Kalakot and Nowshera with HQs at Siot, situated at equal distance from these tehsil HQs" said these leaders.
Yog Raj Sharma while expressing his apprehension said some political leaders by adding Kalakot with Kotranka has laid the foundation for district status in future for Kotranka-Kalakot and the residents of Sunderbani- Nowshera will continue to fight for district status for another 50 years.
Similar protest was also held at Kalakot. Vijay Suri, president Beopar Mandal and spearheading the ongoing agitation for ADC said that PDP Minister , Zulfikar Ali has appointed ADC at Kotranka , sub division HQ, with less than 22 Panchyats, then why not separate ADC for Kalakot having 72 Panchyats, 6 blocks , 3 tehsils and 3.50 lakh population.
