Jammu, Mar 10: National Development Foundation in coordination with Communication and Capacity Development Unit organized District Level Advocacy workshop at Jal Bhawan Jammu for developing strategy of convergence between various departments.
Suriya Jabeen Addl. District Development Commissioner Jammu was chief guest on the occasion while the programme was presided by SE PHE Urban Circle Jammu Er. Ajay Singh Wazir, Executive Engineer PHE (Rural) Jammu Er. Rajesh Gupta, Executive Engineer Flood Control. Officials from various departments including Education, Social Welfare, ICDS, Health and different wings of PHE attended the workshop. Er. Ajay Singh Wazir presented welcome address whereas vote of thanks was presented by Er AK Bhardwaj from CCDU.
Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus National Development Foundation presented a detailed overview of National Rural Drinking water programme and shared the objective of the workshop for developing a convergence approach of different allied departments for effective results on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
Participants were distributed in different groups and they deliberated on various topics including Common working and possible convergence between various departments with regard to WASH in light of ongoing flagship programmes, Traditional ways of keeping water safe and fit for drinking, Good habits for school children with regard to WASH, How Village Water and Sanitation Committees can check open defecation, manage/ maintain water supply schemes/ handpumps and ensure safe drinking water, Development of IEC material like slogans, contents for good habit charts/ wall writing/ quotations on WASH.
ADDC Jammu Suriya Jabeen in her remarks stressed upon the need to spread awareness on the techniques of water recycling for effective usage at household levels to minimize the pressure on the PHE supply. |
