Operations against militants to be intensified in summer
3/28/2018 10:45:42 PM
Both the state and the central Governments are worried over the increase in number of militant attacks on the security forces' convoys and pickets besides consistent attacks on the police posts and stations. The two Government are equally worried over the number of y outh belonging to the Kashmir valley joining militant groups. In addition to this, the way large groups of people participate in the burial of slain militants whether belonging to LeT or JeM where they shout pro-freedom or pro-Pakistan slogans is a a new development. And after the Army Chief,Gen.Bipin Rawat, has directed his troops to eliminate whatever number of militants is present in Kashmir in a clean operations one expects a hot summer in Kashmir.Hot in the sense that operations against militants are to be intensified and for this the state police is being provided with new bullet-proof gypsies and equipped with latest sophisticated weapons. In view of the derailed peace in Kashmir a delegation of Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reviewed the security situation of Kashmir during a meeting with top security officials, in Srinagar and expressed concern over the continuous joining of militancy by youth in Kashmir. The MHA delegation comprising six members including a member-in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs-led by Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba arrived in Srinagar for a two-day visit to review the security situation in Kashmir. The MHA delegation took a complete review of security situation prevailing in Valley from the officers of police, Army, CRPF and other agencies. The infiltration by militants from across the border and recruitment of local Kashmiri youth in militancy were discussed during the security review meeting. Gauba is believed to have expressed serious concern over local youth joining militancy in Kashmir despite various Government of India (GoI)- sponsored schemes for Kashmiri youth. Police informed the MHA delegation that youth were being radicalised through social media from militant handlers across the border in Pakistan. "Besides, there is easy access to Jihadi material".Now that the ensuing tourist traffic to the valley may again witness a slump because of bad security scenario it may add to financial difficulties in the valley leaving all those connected with tourist traffic poor and sullen. And when the existing job opportunities are quite limited the union Government should issue instructions to the Armed forces to reserve atleast 10 per cent of quota from boy s from Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to this senior fu nctionaries of the paramilitary forces need to be told to reserve five per cent quota for boys from Jammu and Kashmir and all the public undertakings to reserve seats for jobs for boys and girls from Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to this the state Government should organize an investment meet in Jammu and attract top business leaders and motivate them to Invest in the Industrial sector In Jammu which would give boys of Kashmir a chance to find new jobs.Unless the central and the state Governments join hands and Increase rather resolve unemployment problem educated youth could be lured to militancy after they are assured monetary help. And under the revised rates each boy hurling a grenade is paid between Rs.500 an d Rs.1000. And Fidayeens blowing their bodies while on a mission to demolish an Army unit may get anything between Rs.Five lakhs and Rs.Fifteen lakhs. Gauba asked top security officers to give their views on the ground situation, especially the security situation in Kashmir including counter-insurgency operations and infiltrations from across the border. And under the new strategy operations against militants have to be Intensified iof the security situation has to be improved. And one expects series of counter insurgency operations during the ensuing summer and the Army, the paramilitary forces and the police are getting ready to meet challenges from militants. As far as infiltration is concerned the Indian troops have been told to intensify anti-infiltration grid and retaliate each and every ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops because these violations are meant to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir. And once the foreign mercenaries enter into the state of Jammu and Kashmir they attack civilians which would allow militants a chance to berate the security forces. And troops have been told if they require additional deployment they should not feel shy because each every porus patch is to be plugged to seal the border against ingress of militants
