JKRCEA expresses concern over dilution of SCST Atrocities Act

Jammu, Mar 28: Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) has threatened to start mass agitation if the coalition Govt. in J&K and Central govt. failed to resolve various issues pertaining to violation of constitutional rights of these communities by various agencies including Supreme Court.
While talking to the media persons, the heads of various wings of JKRCEA have said that they unitedly stand for SC/ST/OBC communities of J&K whose population is approximately 35-40 lakh and in one voice condemned the non-responsiveness of coalition Government in defending its position on the issue of reservation in promotion in scores of writ petitions' relating to issue of reservation in promotion in the high court of J&K and Apex court of the country. They also criticized central governments deep silence on welfare issues pertaining to these communities. Reserved categories wants peaceful solution of these problems and if need arises they shall be launching huge protest all over the state for which government shall be responsible.
Sham Bassan, Presidnet Dalit Chetna Manch while speaking on the occasion said that to stop caste based atrocities on SCST population SCST Atrocities Act was framed by previous government to give protection to downtrodden sections of the society against atrocities meted to them by upper caste people.
