Jammu, Apr 21: SAI Training Centre Jammu won the invitational basketball tournament for junior men, defeating Jammu district 56-24 in the final.
Gourav Rajwal, Abhinav, Haroon and Sumit combined well for the winners, but only after initial scare by the Jammu district boys, who dominated the early proceedings, leading 16-13 at the end of first quarter. In the second quarter, STC boys changed their defensive strategy and switched to man to man marking, to gain slender lead before going into the half time. Prashant Singh and Rishab Walter fought well for the losers, but they did not have many answers for organized attack of the STC boys. The final was officiated by Harpreet Singh, BFI referee and Abhiskek gupta.
KK Gupta, Chief Engineer Design, Inspection and Quality Control was the chief guest while Ashok Gupta, IPS (retired) and Jaswant Rai Gupta, president Rotary Club were the guests of honour. The managing director of the Addiction Gym and Spa, Nitin Gupta presented one year complimentary membership to Gourav Rajwal of the STC, who was voted as the most valuable player of the tournament. |
