Doctor held after arms recovered from his vehicle on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Kulgam, Apr 21: Security forces in the evening today detained a government doctor after recovering an assault rifle and a pistol from his vehicle on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in the Mir Bazar area in South Kashmir's Kulgam district.
Reports said that forces intercepted a vehicle in the Mir Bazar area and started searching the vehicle. During search one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and one AK 47 with two magazines were recovered from the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, a government doctor has been taken into custody. He has been identified as Dr. Aijaz Rasool, a resident of Khrewan-Wanpoh, Kulgam.
Some reports suggested that some militants boarded the doctor's vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and later on upon reaching Wanpoh and finding forces are frisking vehicles they de-boarded the car and escaped from the spot. Police said that it started investigation into the matter.
A police spokesman said that at a naka point at Al stop in Mir Bazar a naka party intercepted a vehicle which was searched. During search one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and one AK 47 with two magazines were recovered from the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody. Police has started investigation into the matter, said the spokesman.
