UDHAMPUR, Apr 21: Contrary to tall claims of the Education Department, the government schools lack badic infrastructure including wash rooms.
The primary school at Upper Sail in Udhampur district operates from a single room for the past 15 years.
The room houses the principal's office, staff room and the classroom.
The school was established in 2003- 2004 in a rented kucha room. With the Passage of time the number of students increased but the school continued to run in the single room.
The school has over 50 students in five classes.
The officials of the department have visited the school many times but nothing has been done so far to relieve the students from the torture of sharing the room with the staff.
School has no play ground and the students play on the road thus exposing themselves to risk. Locals have demanded appropriate measures. |
