Cong Hqrs wears deserted look as leaders await decision on Sham - Mir

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 8: Even as only a few months are left for the next Lok Sabha elections, the Congress headquarters in Winter capital of the State is missing usual hustle- bustle for the last one month.
Since the resignation of Sham Lal Sharma as the Senior Vice-President, no party leaders are visiting the Congress headquarters for any event with the result that a virtual calm prevails there sounding that all is not well in the party.
In the party headquarters, which also houses the office of Youth Congress, student wing NSUI, Seva Dal and other sister organizations of the Congress, only two peons and a caretaker office secretary are seen by the victors.
According to the sources in Congress circles, the party leaders are eagerly awaiting for the announcement of new block and district teams, which were stayed by AICC general secretary and incharge J&K affairs, Ambika Soni following the controversy over inclusion and exclusion of some names.
This controversy over new teams was further deepened by Sham Lal Sharma, who resigned recently as Senior Vice-President JKPCC accusing the PCC president G A Mir of damaging the party by his favouritism and bias thus making it clear that both the leaders are at loggerhead.
In view of the fight between Sham Lal and Mir, the other party leaders don't want to annoy any of the two and hence awaiting final decision by the party high command, specifically Rahul Gandhi, over the selection of new teams, sources explained.
Hinting that the incumbent PCC president may also be replaced for rejuvenating the party in Jammu Kashmir, sources said that all eyes are set on the party high command's next course of action with regard to G A Mir and Sham Lal Sharma and till then the Congress headquarters is likely to remain deserted.
