Jaipur, June 14: Thousands came to pay tributes as BSF assistant commandant Jitendra Singh's last rights were being performed by his four-year-old son, Yashvardhan, at his ancestral village Salempur Kalan in Bharatpur. Assistant commandant Jitendra Singh, assistant sub-inspector Ramnivas and constable Hansraj Gurjar were killed in firing along the International Border (IB) in the Chamliyal post area of Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night.
Hans Raj Gurjar's 15-day-old son lit his pyre his native village Mungalpur as his wife was inconsolable. Hans Raj was supposed to come to his village June 14 to participate in Kuala Pujan ceremony of his infant son on June 15. Even after receiving the news of his son's death, a 70-year-old Rameshwar Gurjar said that he will send his grandson to the army.
Hansraj also has a four-year-old daughter, a family member told reporters.
BSF assistant commandant Jitendra Singh's last rights being performed by his four-year-old son, Yashvardhan, at his ancestral village Salempur Kalan in Bharatpur. When Jitendra Singh's body reached his village, the locals started shouting slogans against Pakistan.
They demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take strict action against Pakistan.
The 32-year-old martyr's father, Samundra Singh, and mother, Sumitra Devi, were in shock after hearing about the son's death. While his wife and child living with him in Jammu, his parents had just returned from Jammu after visiting him.
"Jitendra's parents had gone to see him and boarded their train back home from Jammu on Tuesday evening. This turned out to be their last meeting," one of Singh's relatives, Manish Rotwal said.
"After their train left for Jaipur, Jitendra went to the post and laid down his life," Rotwal added.
Singh's father is a contractor, while his brother, Deepak Singh, runs an electronics shop in Jaipur.
Tourism minister Krishnendra Kaur Deepa, BJP MP from Bharatpur Bahadur Koli and local representatives also paid tribute to the martyr.
"The central government will take revenge for the killing BSF personnel," said Krishnendra Kaur Deepa.
A BSF sub-Inspector Rajnish Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was also killed and three other soldiers were injured in the overnight firing by Pakistan Rangers.
