Pakistan's yet another bid to raise Kashmir issue at UN
7/12/2018 11:41:33 PM
On hand Pakistan has been export
ing terror to Jammu and Kashmir, on the other hand it does rake up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir on the floor of the UN Assembly simply to keep the record straight and win support from the international fora. Hitherto, it has failed to secure support from any country, particularly from the US and the UN. And Islamabad tried to catch the attention of the UN but timely intervention by India has foiled Pakistan's bid on painting a dirty picture of security forces fighting militants in Kashmir. Reacting angrily to Pakistan's reference to a UN report on Kashmir at the Security Council, India has said the "so-called" report reflects "clear bias" and was not even found fit to be considered by the members of the human rights body where it was submitted. Pakistan raked up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir at a UN session on Monday, the third time it did so in as many weeks.
India hit back, saying there had been yet another attempt by Pakistan to misuse the UN forum by referring to situations that are extraneous to the discussions. Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi referred to the June 14 report on Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein during a Security Council debate on Children and Armed Conflict. India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Tanmaya Lal, in a scathing reply, said the "so-called" report about the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir reflected the "clear bias of an official who was acting without any mandate whatsoever and relied on unverified sources of information
How many times Pakistan makes a failed bid to rake up the issue of human rights violations by the security forces in the Kashmir valley? Not one time but many a times Islamabad has raised the Kashmir issue and the human rights violations being allegedly committed by the Indian security forces. Pakistan should know it and the UN too is supposed to know it that prior to the export of terror to Kashmir there have been no cases of alleged human rights violations. And the first human rights violations were committed by militants from Pakistan who indulged in loot, rapes, abductions and murders. Had not Pakistan sent terrorists to Kashmir neither peace would have been derailed in the valley nor could have been any incident of human rights violations. This way Pakistan is responsible for derailing peace in the subcontinent.
