State lets CID chief down after he denies passport to terrorist's daughter
8/4/2018 12:32:57 AM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 4: He was trying to shield India but the State has let him down. Jammu and Kashmir Additional Director General of Police (Criminal Investigation Department) Abdul Gani Mir is facing a contempt of court case for rejecting the passport application of the kin of a dreaded terrorist. The top intel sleuth is now being made to explain why he must not be sent to jail for doing his job well!As per details available with national channel, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has failed to build a strong case for Abdul Gani Mir in the court.
This despite the fact that Mir had denied the passport to the daughter of dreaded terrorist, Harkat-ul-Ansar chief Zargar, who was freed in the IC-814 hijack swap in 1999.While the J&K CID refused to clear the passport application of Zargar's daughter due to national security reasons, the move violated a High Court order and invited contempt proceedings. The J&K High Court had observed that Zargar's daughter is a minor and her liberties should not be curtailed because of her father's deeds. However, the point here is that there were strong reasons to deny a passport to Zargar's daughter. National Channel has learned that the petitioner (Zargar's daughter) and her mother had travelled to the United Kingdom in 2015 to meet Pakistan terror proxy Khurshid Khan. The call data records of petitioner's mother show she made VoIP calls to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir where Zargar is active. Further, it would not have been possible for the family to travel abroad without assistance from external agencies with ulterior motives. During a meeting with the police, petitioner's mother was unable to give clear answers on the UK meeting and VoIP calls. The passport denial to Zargar's kin is in line with the policy of imposing reasonable restrictions on the family of terrorists due to the role they can play in disturbing peace.
