Eight clinics sealed in Sopore; Sixty sealed in Baramulla in one month

BARAMULLA, Aug 16: Chief Medical Officer Baramulla along with a team of officials raided different clinics, pathological laboratories and physiotherapy clinics in sopore area of Baramulla and sealed number of such establishments run by unregistered and unqualified persons.
The team visited different clinics in sopore town areas of Baramulla where 8 such illegally run clinics were sealed and action under law was initiated against the owners of these clinics.
Sources informed that, CMO Baramulla has sealed around 60 illegally run clinics in different areas of Pattan and Baramulla during last one month.
They said that the drive will continue so that general public is saved from these fake doctors and illegally run clinics.
The top health official have asked the general public to cooperate and inform the department if they find any such illegal practices run in far flung areas of the district.
However sources said that there are dozens of illegal clinics that are run under the patronage of some top political workers. Following the arrest of fake doctor in North Kashmir's Pattan last month, the health departmental officials conducted raids on clinics and medical shops and sealed many illegal clinics at several locations in North Kashmir's Sopore Town on Thursday.
Sources said that the authorities concerned have sealed eight clinics in Sopore town on Thursday after they failed to furnish requisite documents to the raiding team.
It is learnt that the sealed establishments were running by unregistered and untrained persons where as the department have initiated against the owners of these clinics.
Pertinently 60 illegal and unregistered clinics were sealed in Pattan area last month.
Sources further said that there are other tehsil headquarters where the illegal clinics are working, outside hospitals and authorities concerned have failed to initiate any action against them.
