| BJP's Pulwama unit ignored for I-Day function, do not get official invitation | | |  Early Times Report
PULWAMA, Aug 16: The district administration of Pulwama did not deem it fit to invite the local leadership of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) for the official function in connection with the 72nd Independence Day celebrations. However, despite district administration's complete neglect of the BJP, the local party leaders and activists in large numbers attended the Independence Day function held at Pulwama. "Even though we were not given invitation cards for the Independence Day function but still a large number of local party activists attended it as participation of nationalist people like us in such events is a bounden duty," said BJP's Pulwama Office Incharge, Shabbir Ahmad Bhat. "We don't need chairs to sit on while attending the Independence Day function. We are the torch bearers of nationalism in Kashmir and come what may we will not desist from our responsibility. Other political parties were invited yet their representatives prefer to skip the event," Bhat added. Bhat further said that top leadership of the BJP was informed by the local unit about the disregard shown by the Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama towards the party activists but even then the DC did not display any courtesy to extend an invitation for the official Independence Day function. "It was deliberate attempt of the district administration to discourage nationalist forces. If the district administration had any intention of inviting the BJP then they could have easily delivered the invitation cards as the BJP office in Pulwama is stone's throw away from the DC office," said Bhat. |
