Udhampur, Aug 19: It seems the administration in this district is very casual with regards to working for the interests of public and is least concerned about the precious human lives.
Yousaf son of Ebrahim resident of village Ladana, Ramnagar is living in constant fear of a tragedy that may struck his residence anytime thereby putting his and his family's life at grave risk. This man who belongs to under privileged section of society lives on a hillock which is very much prone to landslide.
"Time and again we have brought the matter to the notice of concerned district administration but nothing in the form of preventive measure has been done so far," Yousaf said
He further said that in this ongoing rainy season the landslide may be triggered anytime by the continuous rains and his as well as his family's lives have been left at the mercy of God. His wife, two daughters, three sons and old parents live with him.
Another local Sangram Singh said that the administration should shift the poor family to some safer location till the risk of landslide is over as far as rainy season is there.
Amit Ram-a retired teacher from the same village said that when some unfortunate incident takes place the administration is forced to start the rescue operation. He said that why no timely action is taken to reduce the losses due to natural calamities of other such incidents. |
