Dr Farooq dismisses speculations about government formation

Srinagar, Aug 24: Former chief minister and National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah, has dismissed any speculation about formation of the government in the near future. He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of swearing in ceremony of Satya Pal Malik as Governor of restive Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The statement puts all conjectures about the government formation to rest.
The speculations about government formation became rife when nearly a dozen of rebel Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers abstained from attending former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's last rites at New Delhi. It also gained currency when some visiting Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders indicated that BJP will be the part of any government formation in future in the state. Surprisingly, none of the rebel PDP legislator had attended the swearing in ceremony at Raj Bhavan. Even NC leader too was suspected of having reconciled with BJP to come to power in the state. He was heckled during Eid prayers at Dargah where Abdullah family members traditionally offer the prayers on all important religious events. A section of slogan shouting youth tried to push their way to Dr Farooq who was sitting on a chair in the front row because of his knee problem. Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel threw a ring around him to prevent any thrust of the people from behind his row.
People in the valley have been expressing anger for past couple of days on social media after a video clip of NC chief's emotional speech on August 20 during which he chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai went viral. He was addressing a commemorative meeting organized to pay homage to late Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the Union Capital. There is a groundswell among the people over Article 35A issue which also flared up their sentiments.
