ISM dispensary Chattra on leave!
Patients to cover 30 km for BP check up
8/24/2018 10:26:29 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 24: A leave application pasted on the door of ISM dispensary Chattra in tehsil Bhaderwah, has been greeting the poor patients of several villages, who visit for minor ailments.
The dispensary is virtually on leave for the last over fifteen days as the doctor posted here has proceeded on `unauthorised' leave. The patients have been forced to visit Sub district hospital Bhaderwah even for check up of blood pressure.
Rakesh Kotwal, a local resident of village Chattra told Early Times that the Medical Officer Dr Tanvir Zargar has pasted his casual leave application on the door and closed the health institution since August 5."
He further said that around two dozen people used to visit the health institutions daily, covering a distance of several kilometers on foot for first aid only to find the door closed forcing the dejected people have to visit SDH Bhaderwah, which is 30 kilometers far away from this village."
This AYUSH health dispensary was established in the village decades back but till date the institution is being run only by one medical officer and no other staff sanctioned here by successive governments.
When contacted ADMO Doda, Dr. Rakesh Shan said that the Medical officer posted ISM Dispensary Chattra is not on leave. If he is absent for the last few days, an enquiry will be initiated against him and proper action will be taken, he said.
"A total of 35 ISM dispensaries sanctioned in Doda district and each has one sanctioned post of Medical Officer. At present eight posts of ISM Medical Officer are lying vacant across the district but if anyone wants to go on leave, the health institution is not closed but another staff member was posted to the health institution on internal arrangement basis", Dr. Rakesh Shan said.
