Police allegedly uses force against unemployed youth demanding jobs in Pakal-Dool project

KISHTWAR, Aug 25: The local unemployed youth and the affected families of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool Power Project in Kishtwar District who were assured by the administration, project management and local police officials with regard to their appointments in the power project at the time of calling of the protest as well as hunger strike few weeks ago today once again accused the management of project developer AFCON company off backdoor appointments of non locals adding that when they objected the same, they were subjected to police brutalities in which few unemployed youths also got injured.
As per the details available with Early Times the unemployed youth led by local leader Mudasir Ahanger after coming to know about the backdoor appointments of the over a dozen non local people by the AFCON management rushed to the project site with an aim to show resentment with the project management for backtracking from the promises made by them with the local agitating people in front of district administration represented by ACR Kishtwar, alleged that instead of listening to them, the local police contingent which was present at the spot used force against the unemployed local youths and villagers to throw them out of the project at behest of the company manager who is said to be hand in glove with some officials in the administration and in police to implicate its own agenda which according to the locals is against the interest of the project affected families as well as against the interest of unemployed youths of Kishtwar District.
The locals told Early Times that after police used force against them adding that some of the youth had miraculous escape from falling into a swallowing might river Chenab with some of them receiving injuries and were shifted to local hospital for treatment.
The youth said that after seeing the matter going out of control, the local police officials posted in the area along with the company management has called meeting between the angry locals and the management which were continuing when last reports came in.
They said that senior police officials as well as the officials of District administration were kept in dark by the police officials at the helm of the affairs as well as by the AFCON management who at first instance tried to condone the incident, but after verification, the reports as well as the allegation of using of force against the peaceful youths at behest of the company manager were found to be correct by the senior officials who assured action in this behalf.
Despite repeated attempts, AFCON manager Manmeet Singh could not be reach out for his comment on the allegations leveled against him by the locals and unemployed youths.
