Multi crore scam involving construction of JU guest house comes to fore
9/10/2018 12:11:02 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 9: In a biggest ever financial scandal unfolding nexus woven with connivance of RD Sharma, outgoing VC, JU Works Department and Contractor, lacs of rupees have allegedly gone into the pockets of officers including Ramjidass without completing the extension work of university guest house for which a contract of 1.08 crore was allotted to one Suresh Kumar.
Sources in the University informed that extension of varsity guest house building was to be done for which contract for constructing ground and first floor was given to Suresh Kumar S/O Karam Chand R/O Gandhi Nagar Jammu vide tender order No UWD 2016-17 and 1060-65 dated 12 July 2016 to execute the work in a time bound manner.
The tender was allotted to him at Rs. 1.08 crores as against the tender of Rs. 1.32 cores, sources told adding that the building was slated to be completed by November 2017, which has reportedly not been completed till today throwing aside the terms and conditions of tender.
Sources alleged that surprisingly the contractor has been made full payment by university at the behest of outgoing VC without ascertaining the completion of building work in its entirety as per specification and design which is a matter of grave concern and suspicion of fishy deal.
Rather the contractor half heartedly constructed two three floor building without any order and beyond the requirement enshrined in the contract leaving the construction and completion work in midway which speaks of nexus amongst Ex VC, Works Departments and Contractor to loot the public exchequer without any fear of facing serious consequences owing to pleasant patronage of outgoing Chancellor. Demanding high level enquiry for swindling government money in lacs in the guise of building varsity guest house, sources urged the new Governor, who is also Chancellor of Jammu University that such a big scam may be got probed by a team of technical experts so as to fix responsibility of officers involved in university scandal including ex Vice Chancellor RD Sharma. Besides audit of all the building works carried out by university Works Department during last five years may also be got conducted to unearth scandal of crores for building works in campus.
