| GDC Bishnah organizes Extension Lecture | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 17: On the occasion of inauguration of series of activities to be undertaken by the college for celebrating 150th Birth Anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, an extension lecture was organized on the topic "Relevance of Gandhian Thought in Present Era" by NSS Unit and Cultural Committee of GDC Bishnah in which renowned personality Dr. S.P. Verma, Padamshree Honorary Director Gandhian Global Family was the Resource Person. He delivered his lecture in emphasizing the relevance of 17 goals set by the Global Gandhian Family for bringing peace in the world. Giving specific reference of year 1990 when organization known as Global Gandhian Family (J&K) came into existence of which he was co-founder member. Further, he enlightened the students about issues relating to poverty, illiteracy and encouraged the youth to spread light of education & follow the path of Gandhi ji's ideology, moreover he made special mention of Global Issues like violence, environment, unemployment, social services, population explosion for which he is of the opinion that certificate course on 'Gandhian Way of Life' should be tried & tested. The programme was concluded with the remarks of worthy principal of the college Prof. K.S. Koushal who thanked the resource person for enlightening the students by his vision on Gandhian Principles. Further, he stressed upon the importance of truth and non-violence in present era and adoption of Gandhiji's Principles in their life for transformation of society into a peace loving society based on principles of truth & non-violence. |
