Social Forestry officials swindle money in Rajouri office
Govt money deposited in 'influential' man's account

RAJOURI, Sept 17: In brazen violation of norms, officials at the Social Forestry Department here have allegedly swindled public money.
Sources said the officials of the Social Forestry Department here have been "illegally minting huge chunk of public money in league with some influential people."
They said in one such case, the accused official has deposited thousands of rupees in account of a resident of Drall." Official sources said the money has been deposited for doing work which he actually never did on the ground. Sources said the beneficiary is son of an influential man.
Sources said the department has received complaints of numerous such illegal transaction were in the government money was illegally transferred into accounts of people who were nowhere linked to any work in the Social Forestry department.
When contacted the Regional Director Social Forestry told Early Times that complaint has come to his notice and that the government was ordering an inquiry.
Despite repeated attempts the accused duo was not available for comments.
Meanwhile, the locals have appealed Governor SP Malik to get a Vigilance probe ordered as they feel that millions of rupees have been swindled through such transactions.
