Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 24: Despite incessant thrust either by the Prime Minister of India or Union Power Minister to electrify all the left out villages across the State by December 2018, the incumbent government seems in no mood to speed up the electrification process of more than one hundred villages.
Sources informed Early Times that after coming power in the Centre, the Union government, led by Prime Minister Narender Modi announced two major schemes including Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yoyana commonly known Saubhagya to electrify all the households and village and set the target of December, 2015. "Ironically, only three months left but in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, more than 3.88 Lakh household yet to be electrified", said sources.
As per the details available revealed that out of 100 village which is still un-electrified, maximum village have fall in the Jammu region where 56 village are yet to get electrification and still leaving in stone age whereas 26 villages of Kashmir and 18 villages of Ladhak region.
The document revealed that maximum household of Jammu district are still yet to get electricity and minimum of Udhampur where 2,183 get electricity.
"Out of these households, nearly 2.50 Lakhs households would have covered under the scheme of Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Gram Jyoti Yojana and remaining ones would be covered under newly launched scheme- Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har GharYoyana but due to slow pace of the authority concerned especially the Power Development Department (PDD) is enough to give dent to the announcement by Prime Minister during the launch of scheme- DDUGJY", informed sources while wishing anonymity.
"In the recent meeting held with officials of PDD and Union Ministry of Power at New Delhi in the month of August, the union ministry expressed its anger over slow pace of the department concerned to electrify the village across state and gave direction to complete the project by December, 2018", said official of PDD.
