Early Times Report

RS Pura, Sept 25: NSS Unit of Government Degree College R.S. Pura under the supervision of Dr. Namita Singh, NSS Programme officer under the guidance of Principal Prof. Kalpana Kesar organized an declamation contest on "Truth and Non Violence" during the seventh day celebration of commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. A total of 30 NSS volunteers of the college participated in the event.
Proceeding of the programme was initiated by Dr. Namita Singh, NSS Programme Officer. Principal Prof. Kalpana Kesar in her speech guided the students that Truth and non-violence were the two foundational stones of Gandhian philosophy. She stressed that Truth is one of the basic tenets that we should build our lives around and similarly Non-violence is about controlling one's thoughts and temper, even under tiring circumstances. Dr. R.K Bhat also spoke on the occasion and apprised students that Truth and Non-Violence constitute the Kernel of Gandhi's philosophy. He also mentioned about certain practical incidents of Gandhi Ji's life which became shiny examples of Truth and Non-Violence such as the throwing of Gandhi Ji from train and subsequent response of Gandhi Ji, Champaran incident and the Nava Khali incident in Bengal during 1947. The Gandhian philosophy of Truth and Non violence has multi dimensional roles for making an egalitarian society.
A Declamation contest was held wherein 10 NSS volunteers expressed their opinions on Truth and Non Violence. Dr. R.K Bhat and Dr. Anuradha were the judges for the event. Deepak Choudhary, Sudha and Tania Dagoria were adjudged as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners. 2 consolation prizes were given to Muskaan Choudhary and Sahil Bhagat. The programme concluded with formal vote of thanks from Dr. Namita Singh.
