Kashmiri students preaching sedition, separatism have to face law
10/14/2018 10:59:05 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: Kashmiri students at Aligarh Muslim University have threatened to quit the varsity en masse as the law enforcing agencies have tightened their noose around them for raising anti-national slogans and for making an attempt to vitiate the atmosphere of the campus.
It may be recalled that a few Kashmiri students at AMU assembled in the varsity campus last week and raised anti-national slogans after the killing of AMU scholar turned militant Manan Wani in an encounter with the security forces in north Kashmir last week.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "It's unfortunate that Kashmiri students studying in different varsities outside the state don't understand that they cannot preach sedition and separatism. Neither can they be allowed to glorify violence and terrorism."
He said that it's not for the first time that Kashmiri students have created a scene in any outside varsity. They have been doing it again and again. "After creating a scene they play a victim card and threaten to return home. These students should bear in mind that they are studying in India and not in Pakistan. If they are so much inspired by the neighbouring country, which has proved to be a failed state, then they should seek admissions in the universities based in Pakistan," he said, adding that "No one would tolerate glorification of Pakistan and the terrorists in India."
A national daily reported that Uttar Pradesh Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team to investigate who were the students who tried to vitiate the atmosphere in the campus. "The UP Police have identified nine students who tried to instigate the students. The UP Police have sent their names to the Jammu and Kashmir Police to verify their antecedents," the daily said.
A politician said that Kashmiri students who are spread across the country should realize that people across the entire country are united in their fight against terrorism and have been demanding that the Government of India should take a decisive action against the terror camps and launching pads operational across the Line of Control. "The war against terror and the terrorists is in decisive phase. Kashmiri students should concentrate on their studies rather than becoming a tool in the hands of people who have been fighting a proxy war against India for the past 30-years," he added.
A defence analyst said, "It looks like that supporters of separatists and terrorists have joined the Kashmiri students and they are trying to influence them by propagating their ideology. Black sheep need to be identified so that genuine students don't suffer."
He said that no amnesty should be granted to the people who are trying to flare up anti-national sentiments and are trying to divide the student community on the religious lines.
