JJSF starts fast on students martyr day

Jammu, Oct 16: To commemorate and pay homage to the Student Martyrs of 1966, namely S. Gurcharan Singh, Brij Mohan, Subash Chander and Gulshan Handa who laid down their lives to protect the dignity and honour of the Dogras, Jammu Joint Students' Federation (JJSF) in this context started three days fast today where four activists of JJSF namely Aman Singh Slathia, Atul Singh Chib, Rahul chowdhary, Divyansh Varma and Sanjeev Sangral sat on fast at Shaheedi Sthal, GGM Science College, Jammu. It is pertinent mention here that the activists of JJSF sit on three days fast every year on 16th, 17th and 18th October to pay homage to the student martyrs of 1966 and this year JJSF has organized series of programs like football tournament namely Chhatra Saheed Memorial Football Tournament, 2018 in which 20 Registered Clubs/Teams of the J&K State are participating. Final of this tournament shall be played on 17th of October, 2018 at 12:30 PM at football ground GGM Science College and thereafter Dogra Langar Prasad shall be served to everybody. Speaking on the occasion, Pushvinder Singh (Advocate), President, JJSF said that the student martyrs of 1966 are the inspiration for us who laid down their lives while fighting for the rights of the people of Jammu region. He said that it is due to their martyrdom that today Jammu has separate SKUAST-J, Government Medical College. He said that the young generation of Dogra region especially the student community is required to learn about their sacrifice and should get inspiration from their martyrdom.
