16 bovines rescued, smuggler arrested

Jammu, Oct 18: Tightening noose on activities of bovine smugglers, District Police Samba under the overall supervision of Dr Koshal Sharma-SSP Samba foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued 16 bovines.
Police spokesman said that today a Police Party of Ghagwal police station headed by SI Bansi Lal-SHO Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba, during routine naka checking at NHW Tapyal signalled to stop a truck bearing Registration number JK02AK-3037which was coming from Kathua side.
Spokesman further said that the driver on seeing the police party, accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot but after successful chase by the Police, the truck was intercepted near NHW Jatwal.
During checking of the vehicle, 16 bovines were found loaded inside the vehicle, which were being transported illegally without any permission, said spokesman.
The accused driver namely Maan Singh of Batra Jammu was arrested on spot and all the bovine animals were rescued. In this regard a case under FIR No. 137/2018 under section 188 of RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at Ghagwal police station and investigation started.
