Traffic jams in Mandi irk masses, permanent solution demanded
10/18/2018 10:16:37 PM
Early Times Report
MANDI, Oct 18: Despite claims of the concerned department of working on to streamline traffic congestion viz a viz haphazard parking in Mandi tehsil is haunting people with nightmarish traffic chaos.
"Traffic jams have become a daily routine in tehsil Mandi. It seems like the police authorities have not applied sincere efforts to smoothen the traffic flow in Mandi," said Mumtaz Ahmed, a resident of Mandi
He added that blaming the administration only for jams will not help the cause,as people in the area also lack civic sense, which causes mess.
"This situation has arisen due to lack of planning by the previous and present governments. They just spoke about decongestion of Mandi tehsil, but no step has been taken till date," he maintained.
All the roads of the Mandi remain jam-packed during peak hours and vehicles keep moving in slow speed in the entire tehsil,
It is often seen that vehicles are parked in the area of 'No Parking Zone', thus aggravating the situation.
Vehicles are not the only culprits; the local shopkeepers are responsible to an extent for the traffic mess as they put their goods on the roads especially around the main market Mandi and in front of SDH Mandi.
