Pvt School teacher booked for beating students

RAJOURI,Oct 18: Police have booked a teacher of private school in Rajouri district for beating two students of tenth class mercilessly today.
The students who have approached the police at Darhal police station with visible injuries on the back have been identified as Mafeez Ahmed, son of Gulzar Ahmed of Khorinar and Omar Farooq, son of Mohd Farooq of Bari Darhal.
The teacher booked by the police under sections 342 and 323 of RPC has been identified as Mohd Arshad, of Naka and working in MET school at Darhal. According to reports, the teacher directed the students to remain in the school after school time and when they refused they were beaten up mercilessly inside the class room reportedly with leather belt. Another report said that the teacher left the school to have lunch in a nearby house and when he came back the students of 10th class were playing cricket in the ground. Irked over students leaving the class, the erring teacher started beating the students and both the victim students received injuries on the back. The teacher was not available for his views on the incident.
However, when contacted Habib Pathan, SHO Darhal police station said: "Both the students have approached the police in the evening along with a written complaint against the teacher. After medical checkup of the victim students, the teacher has been booked under relevant sections of law and further investigation will be started on Friday". The right to free and compulsory education act 2009 openly prohibits physical punishment.
