Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 20: The lackadaisical approach of the officials of Education Department including that of Chief Education Officer Doda could be gauged from the fact that even as the current academic session is coming to a close, 1856 poor students studying in around 120 Government Schools of Thatri Education Zone of Doda District are yet to receive the free uniforms despite the fact that government has already released the money for the same.
As per the details available with Early Times, the state Government provides free uniform to the poor students of the government schools for which the funds have been already transferred into the concern ZEOs Accounts across the state and it was expected that the students would get uniform during the month of March, but even after seven months, the students have not been provided the uniforms.
Speaking to ET, senior leader of JKRETTF Zakir Butt confirmed that school uniforms were not provided to the students till today adding that examinations of the students are scheduled to commence from October 15.
"Why department didn't provided the uniforms to the students till the end of this session and where the said funds have gone?" questioned another teacher wishing anonymity. He further said that this Zone has remained in the news for various scams and corruptions both in print media as well as social media during 2018, but the authorities have become inert to that as well.
"No action and no enquiry has been initiated against the culprits-- some officials have defamed the whole education department which is having very bad impact on the education of the poor students" said another Teacher demanding action against the culprits.
When contacted, Advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganie assured that he will look into the matter.
