BJP targets 50 plus seat in Assembly, Omar says 'it can only happen in their dreams'

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 23: Taking a jibe at BJP state president Ravinder Raina's comment that his party is hopeful of achieving 50-plus seats in the next Assembly elections, National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah said it can only happen in their dreams. "In their dreams!!!" Abdullah, the former chief minister of the state, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. He was reacting to a tweet which read, "BJP targets 50-plus seats in Assembly polls to form its own government." The BJP won 100 wards in the recently concluded Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls in Kashmir valley. It won 76 wards unopposed, while bagged 24 wards out of 186 wards, which went to the polls. Nearly 70 per cent of wards did not witness any polling in the valley as there was either no candidate at all or there was only one. The performance of BJP, which opened its account in Kashmir, could be attributed to the NC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) besides Communist Party of India (M) boycotting the ULB elections in the state, alleging that state and Central governments failed to clear their stand on Article 35 A. The BJP failed to open its account in Kargil and Leh despite its MP Thupstan Chhewang representing the Ladakh Parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha.
