Explosion inside Brigade headquarters in Poonch; no casualties
10/23/2018 10:19:46 PM
Early Times Report

Poonch, Oct 23: A blast occurred inside the Indian Army camp in Poonch. The explosion was heard in the Brigade headquarters.
The blast took place inside the 3rd brigade headquarters at Moti Mahal in the border district around 10.45 am. The explosion occurred at an unmanned shelter in the camp and the matter is currently under investigation, Jammu-based Army spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand was quoted as saying.
Even though initial reports hinted at the possibility of this being a ceasefire violation from Pakistan, the Army has ruled that out and clarified that it is not a case of cross-border shelling. "It has nothing to do with cross-border shelling (from Pakistan)," Lt Col Anand said further.
However, SSP Poonch, Rajiv Pandey, has contradicted this and said, "A shell landed most probably from across the border and because of the blast impact shed was damaged.
There was a fire and subsequent smoke.
The investigation is on and we will try to ascertain the nature of the blast, " he was quoted as saying.
This comes two days after two heavily armed Pakistani "intruders" were killed and three Indian soldiers were martyred in a gunfight in Jammu's Sundarbani sector. There were no casualties in the blast that took place inside the camp today.
