Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 13: Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe today directed Home Secretary of J&K to ensure compliance of its earlier order whereby explicit directions were given for initiating effective steps to check eve-teasing and sexual harassment of the women at work and public places. The DB also directed the State to ensure implementation of Supreme Court directions on regulating sale of acid.
DB further directed in case a compliance report is not filed, the Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department shall remain present before this Court on the next date of hearing.
These directions were passed in a PIL filed by Dr Davinder Singh Jasrotia and others.
When the PIL came up for hearing, Advocate Rohit Kapoor pointed out that State has failed to ensure compliance of order whereby the State was directed to implement the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court for curbing eve-teasing and sexual harassment of women at work and public places.
DB found that vide order dated 3rd September, 2013, this Court had given opportunity to the respondents to take requisite action within four weeks failing which Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department was to remain present in the Court and directed that in view thereof, in case a compliance report is not filed, the Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department shall remain present before this Court on the next date of hearing.
