11/15/2018 9:22:49 PM
Early Times Report
KUPWARA, Nov 15: A massive search operation continued for the second successive day on Thursday in the woods near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara.
Meanwhile, bodies of two militants, who were killed on Tuesday when alert troops foiled an infiltration bid near the LoC, were recovered near Balbir post.
With the first light on Thursday morning, security forces resumed search operation in the dense woods near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector despite hard weather conditions and difficult terrain.
The operation was launched after alert troops intercepted a group of militants on Tuesday evening and gunned down two of them in an encounter.
They said that the operation was suspended on Tuesday night due to darkness. However, additional security forces were rushed and the area was cordoned off to foil any attempts by militants to escape.
"The operation was again resumed on Wednesday morning, but no contact was established with the militants," they said, adding that bodies of both the ultras killed in the initial exchange of fire were recovered near Balbir post.
"Arms and ammunition was also recovered from the encounter site," they said, adding that after suspending the operation late last night, it was again resumed this morning to trace other militants, who had sneaked into this side.
