NMC appreciates Governor for dissolving State Assembly

JAMMU, Nov 22: Appreciating the historic initiatives taken by Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik for speeding up development activities, strengthening democracy at grass roots level and ensuring accountability and good governance, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri has said that unprecedented development has taken place in the state in a short span of three months only by the Governor's administration.
Addressing a well attended NMC workers, Shastri urged the Prime Minister for continuance of Governor's rule upcoming President's rule in the J&K till the problems of the people, working and salaried classes are fully addressed and the tempo of departmental speedup. He described Malik as a people friendly Governor.
Describing the order issued by the previous regime in regards to payment of 7th pay commission, arrears to the pensioner, as discriminatory. He demanded that the payment of arrears should be given to all the pensioners in one go irrespective of their age group. He also urged for enhancing the medical allowance of pensioners from Rs. 300/- to Rs. one thousand per month on the pattern of Central Government pensioners. So, that pensioners could get sigh of relief from rising prices and inflation.
He also demanded the allotment of a separate wage head in each department of the State Government so that several thousand daily rated workers working in various departments may get their monthly salary on regular basis, adding that under the budgetary provisions the interim measure would go a long way to address their financial problems in view of sharp increase in the prices of essential commodities and inflation. He added that the daily wagers had not been paid wages for the last many years and their services have not been regularized so far.
He appealed Governor Malik to settle the long-pending demand of daily wagers for the regularization of their services adding that matter of the regularization of these daily rated workers for the last 21 years has not been settled yet.
Amendment in SRO 520, release of all pending dues of daily rated workers working in the various department of the State Govt. particularly Irrigation Flood Control Department, PWD, PDD, beside enhancing the wages of the daily rated workers from Rs. 225 to Rs, 500 per day etc. were other demands highlighted on the occasion.
Among others who were present in the meeting included Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S.Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Romesh Sharma, Jai Pal Sharma, Ram Singh, Darshan Bawa, Surinder Kumar, Sardhri Lal, Sudesh Bhagat, Paramjeet, Sukh Dev Singh, Mohd Shafi and others.
