DB asks Div Com to file status report with regard to inauguration of Gandola

JAMMU, Nov 22: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Inderjeet Khajuria, president All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association Jammu espouses public causes including creation of artificial lake in River Tawi and Gandola Project from Mubarak Mandi to Bahu Fort, a Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rajesh Bindal after hearing Sr. Adv BS Salathia with Adv Ashish Sharma directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu as well as J&K State Cable Car Corporation to file status report within one week regarding the date on which the Gandola Project is expected to be inaugurated.
Division Bench also directed Divisional Commissioner to take pro-active steps with regard to notifying the budding by installation of public hoardings, jinglings or short films on the electronic media with regard to the penalties for defacement and littering.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division bench observed that pursuant to order dated 14th November, 2018, respondent No. 9- Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma is present in the Court.
AAG FA Natnoo has handed over a copy of the letter dated 20th November, 2018, issued by the office of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, informing that the land measuring 5 Kanals and 17 Marlas has been handed over to the J&K State Cable Car Corporation on 19th November, 2018 to enable it for completion of the project in question. Copy of the said letter is taken on record, DB observed.
Division Bench further observed that "we are assured by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu that the project shall be completed at the earliest despite even the trial run of Cable Car by the Corporation has been conducted. Certain steps regarding constitution of a Committee in accordance with the applicable law as well as the completion of the ancillary facilities including the approach to the project have been undertaken or being completed and directed that the same be completed at the earliest."
